One-liner
“A sister is an embodiment of your greatest foe and closest ally”
Synopsis
This story is about two contrasting sisters. The eldest sister, Emileena Plank is a person who likes to stick precisely to rules. Emileena is in the kitchen preparing to bake a Madeira cake. However Emileena’s little sister, Roberta Plank, playfully keeps interrupting Emileena’s industry. Eventually, Emileena completely loses her patience and or discarding Roberta’s artwork, which Emileena sees as an untidy mess. The two sisters fight over a picture, it starts to rip which causes Roberta to let go of it. Emileena looks at what she is left with in her hand and discovers that it is a picture that Roberta has been drawing of both of them. Seeing how upset Roberta is Emileena, with a little remorse, calms down and offers a slice of her cake to Roberta. Instead of taking the fair sized slice that Emileena is offering to her she grabs the remainder of the cake. This action starts the two sisters start squabbling all over again.
Treatment
“Fy Chwaer” is a manifestation of a regular relationship between two sisters. This film is influenced by Hanna Barbera’s “Tom and Jerry” characters in their slap stick cartoons. The audience for this film will be universal. I did not want to make a film “just for kids” I want it to be viewable for adults too. I am doing this by not including overt adult themes of sex, violence and coarse language, however, it will not be so childish as to make it unwatchable by adults. It will not spoon feeds the audience with information in simple terms.
The style of this film is influence by UPA animation style. I settled on this style because the animation style suits the design in these cartoons. Also I wanted to have an aged feeling hence the story of “Fy’ Chwaer” is set in 1972. The reason why this film is set at 1972 is pretty random but I settled on it because that is when my parents first met each other.
Since this film has a universal audience, there is be next to no dialogue in “Fy Chwaer”, though voices will be communicating if unintentionally in yells and yawns etc. Music will be heard through this film, I chose the jazzy modern classical music of George Gershwin because its changes in tempo and mood matches well the action and the differences in character of the sisters. Emileena would be the more clearly classical elements and Roberta the more uninhibited jazz.
This short film will be 1050 x 576 HD screen size, and will only be between two to three minutes long. I did not want to create a long film, from my experience in the Annacy Animation Festival the shorter the film is the punchier and to the point the story is, and even members of the audience with the shortest attention span will see it in full This film will be created on the program Toon Boom, to shorten time on animating it on paper.

A Story Within a Story
On the surface this film can be just about two very different sisters realising the quality in each other. However this story about a person dealing with a stroke in the right side of the brain.
